The Director of Strategy, Plans, and Policy (G-35) is the G-3's executive agent for FA48. Located in Crystal City, Virginia, the Foreign Area Officer Proponent Office is within the Strategic Leadership Division (SSF) of G-35. The Proponent Office is responsible for establishing policy guidance and FAO career field development as well as establishing specific programs focused on the accession, training, education, distribution, utilization, deployment, and separation of FAOs. .
